Being unfamiliar with Tasmanian crayfish I was delighted at finding this Ombrastacoides crayfish in a small swampy drain on the side of a bush track. I consulted Hanson and Richardson 2006 and it seems to be Ombrastacoides leptomerus, if anyone has other ideas, please let me know as this is my first Ombrastacoides spp.

This is a burrowing species with 3 surface entrance through about 200 mm of sphagnum moss into a gravelly clay below. The surface was dry but water was just below the surface with all burrows flooded.

We dug this one from its burrow some 450 mm below the surface.
